meet Janine
My name is Janine, I am a mum of three awesome grown up children. I am a trained nurse with over 30 years experience working in all areas of obstetrics and maternity care, and a qualified pregnancy, birth and postnatal doula having trained at the Sydney Doula College. I am also a trained mentor, where I volunteer supporting young and teen mums through their pregnancies and early years of parenthood. I am originally from New Zealand where I had my 3 beautiful babies. I worked as a Registered Nurse at a large Women’s Health and Maternity hospital, in antenatal clinics, delivery suite, neonatal and maternal intensive care, and spent many years working on, and in charge of, a busy postnatal ward, and also a private 8 bed postnatal hospital where I loved supporting new parents as they embarked on the most beautiful journey into parenthood. I then spent many years as part of a dynamic team of Doctors, nurses and Scientists at a private IVF clinic working with and supporting couples through their emotional journey of infertility and IVF, and sharing in their joy when they achieved their long awaited pregnancy. I then moved to Australia and trained as a doula and I am so loving supporting mums and couples throughout the whole journey of their pregnancy, birth and into parenthood, which never feels like a job, it’s a true privilege.
I have been blessed to have spent the last 30 years working with and supporting so many mums, babies, partners and families, as a mum, nurse, mentor and doula, and it is such a joy to still be doing what I love every day. I understand what a miracle pregnancy is, and what a precious, special and exciting time it is for the new mum, partner and the whole family. It can also be a time of anticipation, questions and sometimes fear, especially of the birth itself. I am kind, caring, knowledgeable, calm and especially dedicated to ensuring the whole pregnancy, birth and beyond is nurtured and postitive. I make sure mum and her partner feel heard, supported, safe, calm and cared for without judgement, so she and her partner have trust that I can support them to have the birth they desire and dream of, and a calm and nurtured journey into their fourth trimester. I spend time ensuring they feel empowered and to trust mum’s body to do what mother nature cleverly made it to do. I look forward to hearing your story and how I can best support you and your partner during this exciting time of your lives.
